Privacy Policy

At Gurunavi, Inc., we recognize our social responsibility to protect personal information submitted by users of the services offered on its information service website privacy protection related laws, and to realize the Company's basic policy described below. We have therefore developed a compliance program according to JISQ15001, and are committed to the meeting the changing demands of society and continuously improving our privacy protection management system. It shall be understood that users availing of Gurunavi services do so with consent to this privacy policy ("the policy").

Gurunavi, Inc. ("Gurunavi"; "the Company") has established and implements a compliance program setting forth the basics, rules, and steps necessary to properly handle and manage private information in order to prevent such risks as unlawful access to personal information and loss, destruction, hacking, or leakage of personal information.

Gurunavi does not disclose personal information of registered users to third parties, except in the following circumstances:

  1. When relaying customer reservations, either temporary or confirmed, to restaurants
  2. When relaying customers' merchandise orders to merchandise suppliers
  3. When relaying customers' service orders to service providers
  4. When customers submit mail delivery requests or other information requests from customer specified restaurants
  5. When announcing and sending prizes
  6. When customers have given prior consent upon clarification of intended purpose
  7. When engaged in marketing activities without identifying the individuals,
  8. When disclosure is required by law
  9. When statistical information is disclosed based on selected/edited private information, while keeping the identity secret
  10. When supplying and disclosing private information to subcontractors (defined below)
  11. When information on a Gurunavi member requesting Gurunavi Wedding services is shared with Joy Joy Inc.
  12. When information on a Gurunavi member requesting Gurunavi Shanghai services is shared with Gurunavi Shanghai Information Consulting LLC

3-2.Secure management of personal information

Gurunavi gathers personal information necessary for its business through legal and fair means and uses and shares this information within the scope of its intended purpose. In doing so Gurunavi respects the rights of individuals to privacy, and responds quickly to requests from individuals for disclosure or amendment of their personal information.

Employees engaged in a process of handling private information are thoroughly educated with reference to applicable laws and this policy, and are supervised where necessary and appropriate to ensure secure handling of customers' personal information. Gurunavi maintains a internal system designed to accommodate the supervision of employees and maintains and improves this system on an ongoing basis.

4.Extent of information gathering and usage purpose

Gurunavi recognizes the importance of ensuring accuracy and security of personal information. The Company maintains appropriate security protection measures to prevent unlawful access, loss, destruction, usage, hacking, disclosure, and other risks regarding private information of customers. In addition, Gurunavi adheres to a security policy adopted in managing and storing of private information of customers appropriately and securely. Underlined items are necessary clauses; the rest are voluntary clauses.

In addition to the information of individual customers, personal information includes the personal information of related parties, such as customers' families and clients, that has been obtained indirectly from customers.

Gurunavi obtains personal information using a range of methods, including websites, e-mail, postal surveys, telephone and verbal interaction. When the information is obtained by telephone, calls with customers are recorded for the purposes of verifying information and confirming quality. To enable staff to make return calls to customers, Gurunavi uses a caller identification service, and asks for customers' understanding on this matter.

5.Subcontractors

In order to put the services into operation, Gurunavi may contract out management, operations, and other businesses, of systems and various facilities necessary for providing the services, to third party subcontractors. When that happens, sufficient consideration is given to selecting the subcontractors; we sign a contract to dutifully conduct privacy protection and the like; and we make an effort for necessary and appropriate supervision over subcontractors for taking similar measures as in this policy.

When requesting disclosure, corrections, or deletion of private information as provided by customers, please make a request by mailing the specified petition form to the following address enclosing necessary documents for verifying the identity, together with disclosure fee.

After Gurunavi verifies the identity of the customer, the relevant private information shall be disclosed, deleted, or if it is incorrect, corrected. In addition, if the customer entrusts another person with the request of disclosure and such, we verify the identity of the entrusted person by letter of attorney with customer's registered seal together with the certificate of the seal impression and the entrusted person's identity documents, and if the customer legally entrusts another person with the request of disclosure and such, we verify the identity of the entrusted person by the entrusted person's identity documents and a letter proving the relation between the customer and the entrusted person.

After the form is filled out and stamped with registered seal, please enclose documents for identity verification (B) and mail them to the "Privacy Inquiry Desk". In case the request is made on the customer’s behalf by a representative, his/her name and address as well as registered seal stamp are required in addition to the customer's name and address.

8.Handling of private information after using the services

After receiving the request for deletion of registration on the services from customers, or after a company-set duration of inactivity by customers, all the private information of these customers shall be removed, destroyed, or deleted within a company-set time frame from the servers on which the data are stored for the purpose of using the services.
